Why Is Smoke Coming into Your Home?
Smoke or poor draft typically indicates a problem with how your chimney draws air or exhausts gases. Some common causes include:
- Cold or blocked flue
- Improper chimney height or design
- Clogged chimney or liner
- Negative air pressure in your home
- Downdrafts caused by wind or surrounding structures
- Damaged or missing chimney cap
- Misaligned or stuck damper
These problems don’t just make your home uncomfortable—they can pose serious health and fire risks.
